In February our Survey Manager Craig Johnson attended the Trimble 2009 Dimensions Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference was attended by over 2500 delegate's world wide. Trimble hosted over 300 sessions over three days covering a vast array of topics including survey/GIS, GPS, robotics, machine control business and environmental.

The key note addresses held each morning were from the Trimble President and CEO Steve Berglund; Dr Robert Kriegel business speaker author of "If it ain't broke, break it"; Richard Teerlink, former CEO Harley Davidson; and Colonel Dick Rutan USAF retired, pilot of the Voyager, which circumnavigated the earth on one tank of fuel in 1986.

The venue was the Mirage Hotel. Like most things in the US the organisation was outstanding. A Reception Partner Cocktail Party and Gala Dinner was a highlight of the event. Craig had the opportunity to meet a variety of other Surveyors and aligned professionals from many countries.

Surprisingly enough he found that many issues commonly presented to us on daily business were all too familiar to others from around the world.

Craig wished to thank the Australian Trimble Managers for their hospitality and friendship which made the conference so enjoyable. In particular David Hassab (NSW) and Garry Essex (QLD). A recommendation would be go to the next one in late 2010, thoroughly worthwhile.
